For the first time in North America. a natural gas-fired absorption heatpump has been installed in a residential home. The beautiful. unique Colonial-style residence. owned by Walter and Ann Kelly. is located in Glastonbury and is approximately 9.000 square feet in size overlooking a working farm and several tobacco barns.
The gas absorption heatpump is an ultra high-efficiency natural gas boiler used for both heating and cooling.
Traditional gas boilers have efficiencies of 80-88%. The gas absorption heatpump uses heat from the air (or water from the ground) to offer efficiences well over 100%. In fact. the American Gas Association gives the natural gas heatpump a rating as high as 140%! Mark Falade of Marx Diversified Interests. who worked with the homeowners on developing this exciting heattpump project. concurs.
For every dollar spent. the homeowner can expect to receive an equivalent of $1.40 in energy returned during the heating season.
