Evaporative cooler

Cool, natural, simple air distribution system.

New range of evaporative coolers for medium and large-sized buildings.

  • New models: AD 14 V and AD 30 V for vertical installation; AD 20 L for lateral installation.
  • New function to monitor the efficiency of the evaporative panels.
  • Water save” option to optimize and reduce water consumption.
  • Extended operating options thanks to internal and external temperature sensors.
  • New control and regulation panels with improved interface.
  • Post-cooling drying function and pre-wetting phase of the evaporative panels.

Benefits

  • The Robur AD evaporative cooler uses the water evaporation process to cool the air. In the evaporative cooling process, the incoming air is humidified and simultaneously cooled; this cooling effect increases with the air’s ability to evaporate water to reach saturation, which is greater when the incoming air is dry.
  • Industrial/commercial cooling system complementary to direct exchange heating (suspended warm air generators): in addition to heating with warm air generators, we also offer industrial cooling based on operational simplicity and modularity.
  • Fresh air for less than €3 per day
In one day of operation, an AD 14 cooler consumes about 10 kWh of electricity and about 300 liters of water: equivalent to around €3 per day.
Assumed electricity cost: €0.25/kWh - Assumed water cost: €1.0/m3
Fresh and purified air in compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, improving comfort and therefore productivity.
  • Cooling with doors/gates open and constant air exchange.
The AD cooler continuously brings in fresh, clean outdoor air and expels hot, stagnant indoor air through overpressure. Adiabatic cooling occurs even with open doors or the use of air extractors, typically installed at the top of cooled buildings. It can also provide forced ventilation during milder periods or when air exchange is needed.
  • Eligible for tax incentives.
Eligibility for tax incentives depends on your country of residence. We recommend checking local regulations or consulting with your tax advisor to determine whether a product like this qualifies.
  • Modular and customized solution.
Each unit operates independently, cooling only where and when needed—ideal for future system modifications or expansions.
  • Simplicity and cost-effectiveness.
Quick and easy to install. No specialized maintenance required: an electronic system check ensures efficiency and hygiene, lowering operational costs. Improves productivity, work quality, and staff safety.
  • Eco-friendly and natural.
No refrigerant gases or harmful fluids are used to produce the cooling effect. It relies solely on natural water evaporation.
  • Hygiene guaranteed.
The evaporative panels capture dust and airborne particles. The microprocessor electronic board manages water loading and draining to prevent stagnation when the unit is off and to avoid excessive lime concentration in the recirculation tank. The system also regularly auto-cleans the cellulose evaporative panels.

Features of AD Coolers

  • Monitoring of evaporative panel efficiency.
Each cooler is equipped with a differential pressure switch to constantly monitor the efficiency of the evaporative panels. It alerts, via light and sound signals, when cleaning or replacement is needed to maintain optimal cooling performance.
  • Water consumption optimization.
The electronic board features a “water-save” function that reduces or eliminates periodic auto-cleaning cycles of the evaporative panels to minimize water use. It’s also possible to skip the final drain cycle before shutdown, allowing the unit to use up the remaining water in the tank.
  • Internal and external temperature sensors.
By using at least one external temperature sensor in addition to internal temperature and humidity sensors, the system can adjust water usage based on the internal setpoint and detected external temperature. This allows the system to autonomously decide whether to activate the recirculation pump, reducing water use without sacrificing indoor comfort.
  • Pre-wetting and post-drying of evaporative panels.
This function improves performance by wetting the panels before fan startup and performing a full drying cycle before shutdown. This enhances efficiency and extends panel life.
  • Control and regulation systems.
New control devices are now available for full management of AD coolers:
    • EVO controller: equipped with temperature and humidity sensors, it controls a single AD unit or up to 5 units via a router.
    • QBO controller: for independent management of one or more units, up to 16. It provides access to all operating parameters of each cooler, allowing adjustment and monitoring.
The QBO 30 controller can also be networked to manage the entire system via dedicated Cloud services and Apps.
  • Humidity Control
The "Humidity Control" function adjusts and maintains desired humidity levels by modulating the recirculation pump based on set humidity values. This helps optimize indoor comfort by keeping humidity at ideal levels.

Versions

AD evaporative coolers are available in three models, which differ in terms of maximum air flow rate:

  • AD 14 V with air flow up to 13,000 m3/h and vertical cooled air outlet (from below);
  • AD 20 L with air flow up to 20,000 m3/h and lateral cooled air outlet (long side);
  • AD 30 V with air flow up to 27,000 m3/h and vertical cooled air outlet (from below).

Applications

The AD cooler is ideal for all large spaces where traditional air conditioning systems involve high installation costs and significant energy consumption. To prevent indoor humidity buildup, coolers should be used with open doors/gates/skylights, or with the help of air extractors. This ensures continuous air renewal without increasing humidity levels in cooled spaces. The action of AD coolers, which introduce fresh air into the environment, prevents hot air from entering, even when doors or gates are open.
