In 1956, in a small engineering workshop in northern Italy, Benito Guerra founded “D. Guerra” with a clear ambition: to design, develop and manufacture new solutions, turning research and creativity into innovation. From the very beginning, his wife Luisella Traversi worked alongside him and played a key role in the company’s growth, sharing its values and vision and helping to shape the identity that still defines ROBUR today.
Ingenuity, determination and a pioneering spirit have been part of the company from the very beginning. The production of gas burner nozzles for water heaters and boilers coincided with the expansion of the natural gas network across northern Italy, helping D. Guerra establish itself rapidly in the market.
In 1967, the Research and Development laboratory was established and soon became the heart of the company’s innovation. Its work led to new patents and technologies, including the multi-gas atmospheric burner in 1969 and the high-efficiency burner patented in 1973, establishing research as a defining part of ROBUR’s development.
In 1976, Gas Unit Heaters were introduced, going on to become one of the company’s most established product ranges.
In 1982, the range expanded with gas-fired convectors, responding to changing market needs and new application requirements.
A major milestone came in 1991, when ROBUR acquired from Dometic, part of the Electrolux Group, absorption technology developed in the United States from the pioneering work of Albert Einstein. The same year saw the establishment of sister company Robur Corporation, beginning a new chapter in the company’s development.
In 2004, ROBUR launched the GAHP, the first gas absorption heat pump of its kind available on the market at the time. This introduced a new high-efficiency technology for heating and cooling and helped establish ROBUR as an international reference in gas absorption heat pump technology.
In 2018, K18 was introduced, a gas absorption heat pump designed for the residential market, bringing the benefits of GAHP technology to homes and smaller buildings.
In 2019, the company entered an important generational transition. Leonardo Guerra took over the presidency and management of ROBUR and, together with Elena Guerra, began guiding the company towards new goals, responding to changes in the market and the energy landscape while developing the expertise needed to meet the sector’s evolving requirements.
In 2022, ROBUR introduced NEXT-G condensing Gas Unit Heaters, certified for operation with gas mixtures containing up to 20% hydrogen, together with the new AY range of condensing boilers.
In 2024, in response to the evolving energy landscape, ROBUR introduced Robur Hybrid, a 100% heat pump system combining two energy sources – gas and electricity – and e-NextPro, a fully electric air-to-air system, further expanding its range of heating and cooling solutions.
In 2025, the launch of GAHP Plus marked the latest evolution of ROBUR’s absorption technology, while the Robur Hybrid family expanded with new versions incorporating electric chillers.
In 2026, the year of its 70th anniversary, ROBUR added the new Electric Line alongside its Classic and Abso lines, broadening its offering and consolidating its evolution from a manufacturer of heating and cooling technologies into a multi-energy Solutions Provider for residential, commercial and industrial applications. A story that began in a small engineering workshop and continues to evolve with the same pioneering spirit, heart, passion and integrity.
Today, after more than 70 years, ROBUR continues to design and manufacture entirely in Italy, investing in research, innovation and training, with its technologies reaching more than 80 countries around the world.
